The Hong Kong Container Port is renowned for its efficiency.

Currently, there are nine container terminals in the Kwai Tsing Port. All terminals are financed, built, owned and operated by five private operators. The largest of the five ranks as the biggest independent container terminal operator in the world.

In year 2006, the Kwai Tsing container terminals handled over 16 million Teus, roughly about two-thirds of the total throughput of the Hong Kong port and recorded a 12% growth when compared with the terminal throughput of 14.28 million Teus in year 2005.

Altogether, there are 24 container berths in nine terminals, with 8500 meters of quay length and a total estimated capacity of 24 millions Teus. Equipped with the latest quay cranes capable of an outreach of 24 containers across and an alongside draught of 15.5 meters, the Hong Kong container terminals are ready to handle the latest generation of container ships.
