The Hong Kong Container Port is renowned for its efficiency.
In year 2006, the Kwai Tsing container terminals handled over 16 million Teus, roughly about two-thirds of the total throughput of the Hong Kong port and recorded a 12% growth when compared with the terminal throughput of 14.28 million Teus in year 2005.
Currently, there are nine container terminals in the Kwai Tsing Port. All terminals are financed, built, owned and operated by five private operators. The largest of the five ranks as the biggest independent container terminal operator in the world.
